Frame Prep

We ream the seat tube to the correct size before painting. Since seatposts have different tolerances (especially carbon posts) relative to nominal diameter, if you experience a problem inserting the post, check the diameter with a digital caliper.

For carbon posts, we strongly recommend using carbon paste to prevent slipping. Each frame is checked with a carbon Fizik Cyrano post.

We ream and face the head tube before painting. Apply grease inside the head tube before pressing in headset cups.

We retap and face the BB shell after welding and before painting — it is not necessary to reface. If you choose to, do not reface to bare metal; leave the primer to protect the surface.

Spacing

On request, we can build frames with rear hubs of the past for the Luigino model. Track frames use standard 120mm rear spacing. Fixie or single speed frames are built with 120mm rear spacing, and 130mm on request.

TN-06

Front Derailleur

The Luigino uses a 28.6mm seat tube — use a clamp-on FD if available for your gruppo, or a 28.6 braze-on FD adaptor. All other frames (except Day is Done and Orlando) use a proprietary 33.2mm seat tube. Luigino and Day is Done come with adaptors for braze-on FD.

Bottom Bracket Thread

Rim brake frames use a standard 70mm Italian bottom bracket shell (36×24 TPI). On request, any rim brake frame can be built with an English 68mm shell (1.370″×24 TPI).

Disc brake models come with the English bottom bracket shell only, with the exception of Orlando which is available with a T47 on request.

Electronic Groupsets

If you intend to mount an electronic groupset on a non-internally routed Pegoretti frame, please provide details about your chosen system before ordering your frame. We adapt the build accordingly — cable routing, junction points, battery placement.

Product Care

Each steel frame receives a protective treatment during production. After a few years, we recommend applying JP Weigle Frame Saver, CRC Protettivo per Nautica, or similar to the inside of the tubes. This eliminates the possibility of rusting from the inside out. Essential in high-humidity environments. Stainless steel frames do not require rust preventative.

Periodically inspect your frame inside and out for damage or corrosion. Keep the frame clean, especially around cable stops and the BB cable guide — these areas collect moisture and corrosives. A coat of automotive wax applied regularly will protect the finish.

Remove the seatpost periodically. Examine the inside of the seat tube for rust. Lubricate with carbon paste (carbon posts) or grease (aluminium/steel posts). This prevents the post galling with the seat tube.

Routine inspection by an authorised Pegoretti dealer is advisable, especially if the frame has been involved in a crash.
