Fatti con le mani

Steel bicycle frames, built with a sense of possibility, ingenuity and artistry, in Verona, Italy.

The Officina Dario Pegoretti team in Verona

A Pegoretti is a handmade steel bicycle, built to your measurements and needs by a small team of artisans in Verona, Italy. Each frame is crafted, painted and finished by hand — as fast as you want, comfortable as a rule, imbued with care and precision and a certain playful disregard for convention.

Our home is the Bottega, a workshop on the banks of the river Adige. It is variously a place of work, a gallery, a meeting point for friends from the road, a place of contentment and chaos. The atmosphere changes; the personality doesn’t.

We build between 280 and 300 frames a year. Every one of them by hand. Every one of them different. The process takes six to eight months, sometimes longer for something that demands it. We are not in a hurry, and neither should you be.

What guides us

How we work

Steel, always

We build exclusively in steel — chromoly and stainless — because we believe it offers the finest balance of ride quality, durability and character. Our tubing is custom-drawn to our specification, shaped by decades of experience with what works on the road.

One at a time

Every frame is built for a specific rider. Standard geometry or custom, the process is the same: measured, cut, fitted, welded, finished, painted. There is no production line. There are hands, tools, and time.

Paint as expression

A Pegoretti finish is not decoration — it’s a language. From solid colours to geometric patterns to the Ciavete tradition of freeform, hand-painted abstraction, every finish is applied by hand in the Bottega. A Ciavete customer doesn’t know what they’ll receive. That’s the point.

Then and now

The Officina Dario Pegoretti was founded by Dario Pegoretti, who began building bicycle frames in the mid-1970s under the tutelage of master framebuilder Luigino Milani. Over the following decades, Dario built frames ridden by some of the greatest professional cyclists of their era, pioneered TIG welding techniques for steel, and developed a visual language — particularly the Ciavete painted finish — that made Pegoretti frames as celebrated for their artistry as for their ride quality.

After Dario’s passing in 2018, the workshop continued under the stewardship of Pietro Pietricola and Cristina Würdig, who have guided it through a period of evolution while honouring its foundations. Today, the Bottega builds with the same commitment to craft, quality, and individuality that has defined Pegoretti from the beginning.
