Even now, a few weeks after completing his build, Nick is still riding around Sydney in a bit of a daze. “I never thought I would own one,” he says of the box-fresh Pegoretti Duende parked (impatiently) in his hall. “The frame was a present from my parents - my dad and I had admired Dario’s work for years,” he adds. “When we found out that the soul of the brand was continuing with Pietro and the team, we knew it was time to get going!”
In a bid to keep things as Italian as possible, Nick’s tasteful build includes a seat post and handlebar from our fellow Italian brand, WR Compositi, Corsa tyres by Vittoria, and a complete Campagnolo Record 12 group.
And the paint scheme? “I knew I wanted a light grey base,“ Nick explains, “but I’d always loved the ABVD graphic. As well as being amazingly helpful with all my questions, Pietro was kind enough to bring that one out of the vault for me, painting it over the light grey base - it looks awesome!”
