Quick Curves: The New Marcelo Interno

Given enough changes, the point at which an existing model turns into something else is as blurry and indistinct as a summit shrouded in mist. We’re mulling over the Marcelo (or MXXXXXO when redacted on the frame), a favourite of the Pegoretti community and the latest Pegoretti model - now named Marcelo Interno - to turn towards a new design direction first signalled by its stablemate, Elio.

The headline, as Elio, is the frame’s internal routing, but as anyone who has ever made anything with their hands will tell you, if you change one thing, everything changes to some degree. And by degrees is quite apt, because Marcelo Interno blends a sloping top tube with a curved fork amongst other minor changes to offer an alternate route to that set out by Elio; in the same mould but subtly different.

Marcelo is the Officina’s punchy all-day road cycling bike. For those new to the frame, while ready to sprint and quick to respond to even the thought of going faster, it is, like all Pegoretti frames, a comfortable ride. This is steel we’re talking about. If you have an eye on Elio and wonder where Marcelo Interno fits, the latter is an excellent choice if you’d prefer to give up a touch of performance for a little more comfort, and, of course, if you don’t live and ride in conditions that would better suit stainless steel, rather than straight steel. Marcelo Interno’s fork supports the frame’s ‘all-day’ credentials, offering a different profile to Elio’s straight-edge, more aerodynamic lines, meeting the road with a touch more compliance. 

Marcelo Interno is compatible with electronic groupsets only and offers up to 32mm tyre clearance. Options include standard and custom geometries, as well as Ciavete artwork, solid colours or Pegoretti geometric designs. For more details, please visit the product page.
